How far is Arusha National Park from Arusha town?
Approximately 40 km (about 45 minutes’ drive)
What wildlife can I expect to see?
Giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, monkeys (especially black-and-white colobus), flamingos, and many species of birds.
Can I see big cats like lions or leopards?
Large predators are rare in the park. Arusha is not a typical destination for big cat sightings.
What is the best time to visit?
The park can be visited year-round, but the dry season (June to October) offers better wildlife viewing.
Are walking safaris allowed?
Yes! Arusha is one of the few parks in Tanzania where you can go on a guided walking safari, often accompanied by an armed ranger.

Mount Meru is a multi-day trek (typically 3–4 days), separate from a standard game drive safari. It’s ideal for acclimatization before attempting Kilimanjaro.

A day trip is sufficient to explore the main highlights, but an overnight stay offers a more immersive experience.
Can I combine Arusha NP with other attractions?
Yes, it’s a perfect start or end to a northern circuit safari including Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti.
